cure for the blahs

“I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes-I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!”1

I stumbled upon these gems this morning during my devotions. Aren’t they cool?

There’s so much here I can hardly contain myself, but here goes:

·         “I know that my Redeemer lives”—Jesus, our Redeemer, is alive.
·         “And that in the end he will stand upon the earth”—Jesus will return to this earth at the end of human history.
·         “After my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God”—After we die and our earthly bodies decay, we will have a new “flesh,” new, heavenly (resurrected) bodies.
·         “I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes—I, and not another”—Those of us who have been redeemed by Jesus will see Him with our own eyes.

Reading these verses made my heart soar this morning, and it’s still soaring as I write this.

What about you? Are you having a so-so day? Kind of blah? Well, here’s Dr. Chris’ prescription: Read, re-read and meditate on the verses above.

And then? Well, my hunch is you’ll have the same reaction as the Bible writer did:

“How my heart yearns within me!”

1  Job 19:25-27
